Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. Nominees must have skills and abilities to fill job shortages in Alberta and be able to provide for their families. The program is run by both the Alberta government and the federal government.
If a person is nominated through the program, they may apply for permanent residence status together with their spouse or common-law partner and dependent children.
The application for permanent residence is managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and they make the final decisions on these applications.
The AINP currently includes three streams, and offers options for both skilled and semi-skilled workers, with sub-categories, including:

Language Requirements
As of January 1, 2020
At the time your application is submitted you must have completed a minimum of high school education
PGWP holders
Your credential must be issued by an Alberta Advanced Education publicly funded post-secondary institution
2. Alberta Express Entry Stream
This stream allows Alberta to nominate a limited number of qualified applicants from IRCC’s Express Entry system. Note that to be in the Express Entry system, applicants must qualify for one of following three existing immigration programs, namely:
3. Self-Employed Farmer Stream
The AINP implemented the Self-Employed Farmer Stream to allow immigrants interested in investing $500,000 in an agricultural business that they have the knowledge, experience and financial ability to own and operate. To be successful in the Self-Employed Farmer Stream, applicants should have a well-developed business plan, farm management experience, and the requisite financial assets to establish and develop an agricultural business.

- Must have a valid work permit such a LMIA or PGWP
- Be working in an eligible occupation in Alberta
- At the time your application is postmarked you must have either:
- A minimum of 12 months full-time work experience in your current occupation in Alberta within the last 18 months or
- A minimum of 24 months of full-time work experience in your current occupation in Canada and/or abroad within the last 30 months
- This work experience can be a combination of experience gained in Alberta, in Canada (outside Alberta) and/or abroad
- Your occupation must also be related to your field of study in Alberta
- Require a minimum of 6 months full-time work experience in your current occupation in Alberta within the last 18 months
- Must have been full-time, for a minimum of 30 hours a week
- Must be for the same occupation as your current occupation
- Cannot have been gained while studying in Canada
Language Requirements
As of January 1, 2020
- If you are working in a NOC 0, A or B occupation, you must meet a minimum of CLB 5
- If you are working in a NOC C or D occupation, you must meet a minimum of CLB 4

- Proven farm management skills including education, training and work experience
- Financial records for an existing farm business
- Business plan for proposed Alberta farm; priority will be given to applications representing the best opportunity for growth relevant to Alberta's agri food targets
- Proof that a Canadian financial institution is willing to finance the proposed farming business
- Commitment to invest at least $500,000 in an Alberta farming enterprise
- Minimum net worth of $500,000 or approved financing and sufficient financial resources to develop a sustainable farming operation
